November is a transition month marking the beginning of the flow of winter energy. Our emotions are affected by these energy transitions as surely as the seasons are by the earth’s orbit around the sun. As wintertime starts coming in we need to pay special attention to stress and anxiety, which can lead to depression, fear and anger. These emotions can create a powerful, negative trap and can go deep into your system affecting your kidney energy and your vitality.
In order to help yourself avoid this emotional trap it is so important to focus on positive things such as appreciation and thankfulness. So take time to appreciate what you have. While you may not be satisfied with everything in your life it is so important to appreciate what you do have.
Appreciating what you have leads to gratitude, which connects you with the universe and the divine. Wintertime is a wonderful time for connecting with the divine. This is kidney energy time, which is your vitality and life source and life source is from the divine. It is a direct connection with the divine.
Being appreciative, being thankful lifts your spirits, can make you feel tranquil and at peace and it helps to strengthen your kidney energy and vitality. Those are just some of the wonderful benefits of expressing your gratitude.
So each day take time to be grateful. Be grateful for the little things as well as the big. Be grateful for the water you have to drink. Be grateful for the air you have to breathe. Be grateful for the earth we live on. Each day take the time to say thank you for at least one thing and the more the better.
Take time to express your gratitude for the amazing universe you are a part of. Each time you look at the stars in the night sky remember that the same divine source that created those stars created you. Create a journal and every night before going to bed, write 3 things you are grateful for.
This is the time to focus more on building your kidney energy. Your kidney energy is the source of your vitality and longevity. Protecting and strengthening your kidneys, your vitality energy, is so important this time of year. It will not only help keep you healthy and strong during winter but will also prepare your body for the more active times of spring and summer.
Here are 5 simple tips you can do to prepare your body for winter energy:
- Massaging Kidney area :
Massaging your kidney area and the bottom of your feet.. When you massage your feet always start with the left foot then do the right foot. Starting with the left helps you relax and sends a message to your brain to start releasing the body’s natural feel good hormone.
The other important thing to remember when massaging your feet or any part of the body is to focus on your heart and see that love energy flowing through your hands into the area you are massaging. This makes your massage so much more powerful. Remember, love is the most powerful form of healing energy.
Cupping is very helpful. You can cup the kidney area, of course. Cupping the back of the neck at the base of the head is also very beneficial, especially for older people and anyone who has high blood pressure or heart issues.
If you are not familiar with cupping, it is very easy. You simply form your hand into a cup shape and cup or pat the area. Start out cupping gently and then cup more firmly as it feels good to you. You don’t need to do it hard.
- Cover up
Be sure to keep your back and neck covered and warm whenever you go out in the cold. The bladder channel runs down the back and there are many energy points in the back connecting to the kidneys. If the back gets cold then it can hurt not only the kidneys but the energy of the lungs and liver as well. Keeping your legs warm in winter is also important. People cover the upper part of the body in winter but don’t pay as much attention to making sure the legs are warm and protected.
4. Soak your feet
You can soak you feet with few drops of lavender oil and/or Epsom salt before you go to sleep Soaking your feet can help with good sleep and is especially helpful for people who have kidney, liver or heart problems. It can also help with memory problems.
- Get a good night sleep
Getting enough good sleep is also important for your kidney energy and vitality. Go to bed earlier if you can and get up a little later if you can. Don’t go to bed when your hair is still wet as that can cause headaches and other problems. In women especially, this can easily lead to headaches and even migraine headache; having wet hair weakens the vitality in the top of the head. If you wash your hair in the morning make sure it’s dry before you go out in the cold.
Your sleeping environment is very important. Limit all light sources and any noises as much as possible when you sleep. Noises and too much light can affect the quality of your sleep. As a result you can wake-up feeling exhausted and anxious instead of well rested and ready to embrace the new day.
Finally, in the morning when you wake, don’t jump out of bed immediately. Stay in bed for a minute or two with your eyes open.
Maybe do a little exercising in bed. Stretching your body is good. Or try lying on your back, raising your legs and move them like you are riding a bicycle for thirty seconds or so. Then, sit up slowly and hang your feet over the side of the bed for a minute or so before you put your feet on the floor and get your day going. This is especially beneficial for anyone who has high blood pressure. It’s a great way for anyone to gather their energy. It helps you start your day with your energy balanced and flowing.
